Artlands 2023 production

Seamlessly connection regional creativity across Australia

The challenge: elevating regional arts through connection

Celebrating 80 years of Regional Arts Australia, Artlands 2023 brought together 80 selected participants from across the country to the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. The event, held on Ngunnawal and Ngambri Country, explored the theme “The Future of Regional Australia, Fundamentally Creative.” This multifaceted event encompassed both online and in-person elements, offering a space for transformative discussions and collaboration.

Regional Arts Australia approached Round Table Studio with two distinct objectives:

  1. Produce a series of seamless online workshops and roundtables in June.

  2. Manage the production and documentation of the in-person gathering in September.

Both elements required flawless execution, a focus on visitor experience, and detailed documentation to provide a valuable resource for future reference.

Our approach: seamlessly blending innovation and adaptability

Our dual-role approach prioritised collaboration, technical expertise, and adaptability:

  • Online roundtables:
Working within the Zoom ecosystem, we coordinated fluid, interactive sessions across three days. From managing participants to ensuring robust recording solutions (both cloud-based and local), we created an engaging and reliable platform for virtual collaboration.

  • In-Person gathering:
Our team collaborated with the National Gallery and local AV specialists to plan and execute a multi-camera AV production that spanned three days and nights across multiple locations. Key highlights included:

    • Liaising with the gallery to coordinate venue logistics and requirements.

    • Managing live-streamed and recorded sessions with built-in redundancies for documentation.

    • Ensuring technology enhanced participation while remaining unobtrusive to the delegates.

  • Proactive problem-solving:
Anticipating the dynamic nature of the in-person event, we prepared for potential last-minute changes to schedules, venues, and technical requirements. By accommodating every possibility, we ensured that the event ran seamlessly.

Results that inspire confidence

We delivered beyond expectations, leaving a lasting impact on both the event and Regional Arts Australia.

Key outcomes:

  • Flawless delivery: Both the online workshops and the in-person gathering were executed without issue, offering an elevated experience for participants.

  • Detailed documentation: All sessions, presentations, and recordings were archived with care, providing a valuable resource for future planning.

  • Strengthened relationships: The collaboration reinforced the trust between Round Table Studio and Regional Arts Australia, as highlighted by glowing feedback from the client.

Nick and James change the definition of a production company. They are professional collaborators that work with teams to deliver projects and programs that bring all elements of production and logistics together in a seamless way.

At an organisational level, they clearly communicate through all stages of the contract and are flawless in their ‘on the ground’ delivery. At a client level they work effectively and calmly to ensure all aspects are realised. They are open and responsive and form working relationships that are a critical part of events and projects.

RoundTable Studio have worked with Regional Arts Australia since 2020 and delivered two Artlands, national arts gatherings and a series of online programs. Their involvement has been invaluable. They have always demonstrated professionalism and diligence and been a pleasure to work with.

We look forward to an ongoing connection.
